this sucks.

From the AP:

Rapper Pimp C Found Dead in LA Hotel

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Pimp C, one-half of the veteran Houston rap group UGK, was found dead in an upscale hotel on Tuesday. He was 33.

"It is with great regret that I must confirm that Chad Butler aka Pimp C, one half of the legendary UGK, was in fact discovered dead this morning," his publicist, Nancy Byron, said in a statement. "Manager Rick Martin is asking that everyone please respect his family and those close to him at this time and refrain from rumors and innuendo."

Pimp C, born Chad Butler, was found dead in the Mondrian hotel, a longtime music-industry hangout.

Butler and his partner, Bernard "Bun B" Freeman, were pioneers of Southern rap, and hit the mainstream with their cameo on Jay-Z's smash "Big Pimpin'." Though they never enjoyed the pop-chart success of some other rappers, their 1996 CD "Ridin' Dirty" is considered a rap classic, and their laid-back sound, complete with gangsta tales of creeping through humid streets gripping wood-grain steering wheels, was influential in shaping the Southern rap movement.

The duo's career was derailed when Butler was jailed for three years in 2002 on gun charges. He released an album while in prison, and this year the group made a comeback with the critically acclaimed album "Underground Kingz," which included the hit "Int'l Player's Anthem (I Choose You)," featuring OutKast.

Barry Weiss, CEO of their record label, Jive, said in a statement: "We mourn the unexpected loss of Chad. He was truly a thoughtful and kind-hearted person. He will be remembered for his talent and profound influence as a pioneer in bringing southern rap to the forefront."

Butler, who grew up in Port Arthur, Texas, came from a musical lineage. His father was a professional trumpet player, and the rapper studied classical music in high school. He even received a Division I rating on a tenor solo at a University Interscholastic League choir competition.

the flying dutchman turned me onto burial. i'm a little late on it, but it's taking over my mind.

what is there left to say

i came home to a sportscenter spot with a knicks fan throwing his jersey onto the court at the boston game. who's fault is it? we've been through all this. i think it's time for the players to man up and just play. sure zeke is a smug douche who laughs when fans boo him, but what're you gonna do? BOOOOOOO. at some point you use a $100 bill to wipe the tears from your face and play some defense. maybe run the court? maybe take a charge? box out a little? maybe deliver a hard foul to a dude cruising through the lane?

i have little sympathy, and the curiosity is waning. trade steph? why bother? it'd be great to get even a ty lue or a mike james to run this team. but a couple of good games and steph will be fine. and forget all that noise that every team has gotten better after he left. any time a player like jason kidd or steve nash takes over a team, the team gets better. the wolves certainly did not get much better after marbury left.

but somewhere chris childs is IMing charlie ward a 'smiley'.

Food Dood too me to see ween at terminal 5 last night. i tried!

vampire weekend's 'mansard roof'. i have no feelings about this video one way or another.

hardly missing. hardly interesting.

ok so apparently isiah told eddy that he and marbury would be coming off the bench cause of their lack of tenacious D, which is fine by me and most fans i bet. then eddy goes and snitches to marbury and marbury flips and goes back home to coney island. on his way he says he's 'got dirt on isiah.' who doesn't! is this some epic marv albert 'biting hookers' material? is he gay? is he a bad coach? sorry steph after this summer i can't say anything would be a bombshell at this point.

marbury then realizes he makes $182,000 a night whether he starts, comes off the bench or just sits there in his warm-ups. he flies to LA to join the team.

to be continued....

DOUCHEBAGS! every single one of them!

zach randolph: FEE-FI-FO-FUM!
steph: Z-BOOOOO you gonna help me up my assist average this year son?
crawford: or maybe tip in some of my bricks cause you know i love those bricks!
steph: you do?
crawford: well, i'm just not scared.
steph: sort of like the players who defend you.
david lee: YO ASSHOLES!
steph: maaaan it's david. quick, look like we're not talking about the dave matthews band.
david lee: how about this zach; if i out-rebound you this year you buy me a new whip.
david lee: what's up with the new guy?
steph and crawford: WE KNOW.

"stress" "reaction" "four" "weeks" "cartilage" "walking" "boot" "re" "evaluated"

are all words i hate to hear regarding a certain dread-headed over-achieving small-forward on the knicks.

F-isiah calling someone names. here's some real news:

"Forward Renaldo Balkman will miss at least four weeks because of a stress reaction in his right ankle, leaving the Knicks without a key reserve just days before the start of training camp.

An MRI exam performed this week also revealed a small cartilage injury in the ankle, the team announced Thursday. Balkman will be fitted for a walking boot and will be re-evaluated after resting for four weeks." - AP

dude looked crazy in the summer league [then again so did nate]. is david lee playing yet? channing frye where art thou?

"And this time, Kirilenko, the national hero for leading his country to the recent European championship, indicates that he wants to stay in Russia rather than play for the Jazz.

"I want to do what I enjoy doing, and I think the emotions that I experienced with the national side are worth going back to Russia and playing there for Russian supporters," Kirilenko told the Sports Express newspaper in Russia, which has both English and Russian editions, in a story published Thursday."

les savy fav put out a new record! F.A.V. stands for 'film and video'. factoids!

ok ok so this has been going down all week.

cliff's notes

isiah played h.o.r.s.e. with this woman, who is an MSG employee. she beat him. he told her that 'he loved her' and kept on lurking. maybe at one point called her a 'bitch'?

then to paint the picture of the scene at MSG they brought marbury in, who's getting weirder every single day. he admitted to blazing an MSG intern, who was on a game show the week before? and she was already blazing his cousin! his pickup line was [apparently]: 'you getting in?' [to his truck].

oooh you're in trouble!

isiah also called her a 'ho'. he went on to say that it's ok for a black man to call a black woman a 'bitch' but white dudes aren't allowed. that sucks of zeke but 10 million dollars is a lot to ask for, don't you think? whatever just take it off luc longley's salary. doesn't he have 2 years left on that?
